Starting Training on the SO-101 Robot Arm

This really cool and handsome person is operating the SO-101 robot arm

Today, I finally got some training data trained on the SO-101 robot arm!

I thought the process would be relatively straightforward and easy, and while it was easy, it was anything but straightforward. The camera indexes got mixed around again, which wasn't that big of a deal, but it did mean I spent some time trying to figure out why they weren't working again. I also had to reconfigure my NVIDIA GPU's installation because my Linux Mint system was having trouble finding it, and I had to restart some training batches a few times because I was still unfamiliar with doing the training tasks.

I do think it's really neat that I can train the robot arm to do these tasks that require a decent amount of dexterity just by showing it how to do them. I think this is a really cool way to teach robots how to do tasks that are difficult to program, and I'm looking forward to seeing the robot do these tasks on its own once I have around 50 episodes of training data for each task.

I also figured out that you can replay training episodes on your SO-101 follower robot arm, so I'm going to attach a video of me replaying a training episode for my block sorting task below.
